The Annual Awards Reception, hosted by the UCLA Asian American Studies Center October 24, honored student awardees as well as the donors who allow for the event to be established. First hosted in the 90’s, the event recognizes graduate and undergraduate students who share a passion of representing and assisting the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities through various academic endeavors.

The Mother Organization Coalition released a statement of support Thursday night after Nommo Newsmagazine published Afrikan Student Union’s statement of 10 demands to hold the University of California, Los Angeles, administration accountable for a thorough investigation because of a “Kanye Western” themed party that was hosted by Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Phi on Oct. 6.

Pulitzer-winning journalist, filmmaker, and activist Jose Antonio Vargas attended a screening and Q&A for his documentary film, “White People,” in the Carnesale Commons Palisades Room October 15. The screening and discussion were part of UCLA First Year Experience (FYE) Office’s Art of Dialogue series as part of an ongoing effort to encourage dialogue about diversity and campus climate at the University of California, Los Angeles.
