…are as white as usual. Not that I particularly dislike any of the films on the nomination list. I even really, really like True Grit, even though I don’t think it will win against its competitors in Best Picture. Though it does appear that Hailee Steinfeld (whom I adore for her feisty, no-nonsense performance) is the “Expert Pick” for Best Supporting Actress. All right! What’s more, she’s apparently Filipino somewhere on her mother’s side (her mother is of African American, Filipino, and European American descent). The article I linked to refers to her as a Filipino actress; I wonder if Steinfeld identifies as that herself, though. Either way, congratulations to her for the Best Supporting Actress nomination!
