I decided to use this picture from 8Asians because I didn’t want to risk the trauma of Google searching “hentai.” I mean, any of a number of disturbing images could come up (including, but not limited to, the mind-breaking leaked images of the sex and birth scenes from Breaking Dawn). I think this picture is sufficient enough for you to get the image.
Thankfully, the Oxford English Dictionary has decided against publishing an “educational” picture next to its definition of hentai. Yes, that’s right: the OED has added “hentai” to its list of definitions. According to the OED, hentai is “a subgenre of the Japanese genres of manga and anime, characterized by overtly sexualized characters and sexually explicit images and plots.”
I believe that is what we call a “euphemism.” “Overtly sexualized,” right…if by “overtly sexualized” you mean “girls with overly large boobs and the occasional tentacle.”
