This holiday season, the UCLA Food Drive is collecting food and money donations for the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank and the UCLA Food Closet.

The Los Angeles Foodbank, a non-profit organization, was established in 1973. With a network of 900 agency sites throughout the United States, the Los Angeles Foodbank is one of the largest food banks. It provides over 525,000 meals every week, and is affiliated with Second Harvest–the Nation’s Food Bank Network. The UCLA Food Drive is also collecting food for the UCLA Food Closet, a Community Programs Office program that provides food for struggling students.

There are three ways you can help out this year:

#1: Donating food. Check the page here for a list of needed items.

#2: Donating time. You can volunteer on campus by sending an email here, or at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank (send an email here). UCLA will be volunteering there Monday, December 20th, and Tuesday, December 21st.

#3: Donating money. For every $1 donated, the Foodbank can provide $5 worth of food and product.
