Although a high percentage of Asian-Americans are college educated, a large proportion of the Asian-American population remains unemployed for the long term compared to any other minority groups.
The unemployment rate in the Asian-American population is lower than average so it is assumed that unemployment would not last long.
The misunderstanding though is that the Asian-American population does not come across low-wages or unemployment since there is a handful of college graduates.
The actuality is that the Asian-American population is composed of highly educated and unskilled workers, 70% of which is foreign born. A factor to their unemployment is due to their limited language and specialization in certain industries which makes it hard to find jobs outside their area.
Unemployment is not an option in the culture of Asian-Americans. This leads to having to keep being unemployed a secret until they are able to find a solution.
