Unfortunately for undocumented minors, Asian Americans being one of the major groups, good grades will not get them far alone with the failure of the Dream Act in the House of Representatives. The Dream Act was a piece of legislation that if passed, would allow undocumented minors under good standing to become legal residents. This is important as being undocumented makes attending higher education extremely difficult and sometimes near impossible. In addition, undocumented students have trouble obtaining a job, are not able to benefit from social services, and unable to obtain a driver’s license. There is still hope that in the future the Dream Act will be passed but when such a day will come lies unknown.
