Pacific Ties: Winter 2012 Contest
PacTies Winter 2012 Art/Book/Short Story Contest
For this Winter’s print issue, we want to feature YOUR ART! The contest theme is “Asian myths” and we urge you to submit your own interpretation. Pacific Ties is UCLA’s Asian American/Pacific Islander interest magazine, but you don’t have to be Asian American to submit and be published in our award-winning newsmagazine!
The official guidelines for submissions are as follows:
* The submission MUST follow the theme, which is “Asian myths”.
* Up to THREE (3) submissions per person.
* You may submit for both the short story contest and the art contest.
* Acceptable file types: TIFF, PNG, JPEG/JPG, PSD.
* Your file MUST be in 300 DPI when it is sent to us.
* The submission MUST be submitted in soft copy by FEBRUARY 13, 2012. Please include your name, year, and major.

Are you dying to talk about a book you’ve read recently? Did it feature an Asian-American/Pacific Islander character or cast, or was it written by an Asian-American/Pacific Islander? Pacific Ties would love to hear your thoughts. PacTies is the Asian American/Pacific Islander newsmagazine on campus, and this quarter we are featuring guest contributers as book reviewers!
If you’d like to submit a book review, we have only a few important requirements:
* The book must feature an Asian-American/Pacific Islander character or be written by an Asian-American/Pacific Islander character.
* It can be any kind of book or media, including graphic novels, comic books, short story collections, poetry collections, autobiographies, memoirs–as long as there’s text, it can be reviewed.
* The review is limited to 250 words. Be brief in your enthusiasm/vitriol!
* Multiple submissions are okay.
The deadline to submit is February 6. Please include your name (anonymous is OK), year, and major.

Last quarter, Pacific Ties sampled and selected some excellent poetry for our print issue. This quarter, we’d like to do a SHORT STORY contest, with the theme KNOWLEDGE and limited to 100 words. Pacific Ties is UCLA’s Asian American/Pacific Islander interest magazine, but you don’t have to be Asian-American to submit and be published!

* The submission MUST be 100 words.
* The submission MUST follow the theme, which is KNOWLEDGE.
* You can submit to both the art and the writing challenge.
* Up to THREE (3) submissions per person.
