First Asian American Mayor of San Francisco

By on January 20, 2011 – 3:38 PMNo Comment

San Francisco will now have its first Asian American mayor after Edwin M. Lee was sworn in as the 43rd mayor. Lee became mayor after he was appointed by the Board of Supervisors following the current mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, being sworn in as California’s Lieutenant Governor.

Prior to becoming mayor, Lee was the City Administrator. His achievements include creating a Ten Year Plan to develop infrastructure, a plan to improve the bureaucracy and administrative efficiency, and a proposal to make San Francisco’s vehicle fleet more and environmentally efficient.
