National Coming Out Month

By on October 21, 2010 – 10:00 PMNo Comment

Many people yesterday wore purple in honor of Spirit Day, in order to raise awareness for the recent teen LGBT suicides. There have been at least nine suicides in the last few weeks, as a result of anti-gay bullying. Various other projects have been started as well, including Dan Savage’s It Gets Better and the We Got Your Back Project.

Last Monday was National Coming Out Day, the kick off for National Coming Out Week–but UCLA has extended that week into a month. They’ve already had a BBQueer and a screening of the movie Spork, but the events continue with a Multi-Faith Coming Out Panel today (Humanities A135, 7-9 PM).

Other events:

Queer Art & Heterosexual Workshop (October 25th, Royce 362, 7-9 PM)

Queer Spoken Word Featuring Poetic Assassins (October28, Northwest Auditorium, 7-9 PM)
